Well, you are just growing and growing this month, Little Girl. I can't wait until your 9 month checkup to see how big you have gotten. You are wearing size 9 month clothes, so you seem to be right on track. You are doing really well with your baby food and still like everything I feed you. You LOVE puffs and are getting really good at feeding yourself. You are really starting to pick up the pincer grasp well. You are still not crawling, but have squirmed backwards a few times. You have been rolling from your belly to your back for a long time now and are really good at it, but you have stopped rolling from your back to your belly. We decided to have you evaluated by Early Intervention to see if you needed any instruction to help you learn to crawl and by their evaluation you exceeded where you should be developmentally for your age. However, they did feel that you might benefit from some instruction with transitioning to crawling, so they are sending out a physical therapist to give you a more extensive gross motor test. You still might not qualify for services, but Mommy is going to pick her brain for some exercises that might help you. We will see what she says on Wednesday. You still really love being with Mommy, but are starting to warm up to a few more people. You are still babbling a lot (ie. ma ma, da da, ba ba), especially when you are mad :). Logan can always seem to make you laugh. It is so much fun to see the two of you interacting with each other. You went pumpkin picking for the first time this month and seemed to have fun. You liked shaking the hay around and patting the pumpkins. It has been a great month. Love you Cheeky Monkey (from a book that we read).
*Update* I took you to the doctor and you weighed 19 lbs 13 oz. You have jumped up to the 64%. I was SHOCKED!!! You were also 27 in long. I was so excited to see how much you have grown. When the physical therapist evaluated your gross motor skills she felt that you were right on the verge of moving and crawling, but she evaluated you at a 6mo level and felt that with a little instruction you would pick it right up. So, we jumped on board. The doctor felt that you would have been fine without the therapy, but your Daddy and I decided to go ahead with it anyway. We would like to learn some techniques and become a little more proactive about getting you to crawl. I will probably eat my words once you are moving all over the house, but we feel good about the decision to start the physical therapy. Your therapist, Cindy Berlin, is GREAT and we are happy to have her work with you.
