Watch Me Grow

Happy Birthday, Emily!!!! I can't believe that you are already 1 year old. You have grown and changed so much over the past year and we can't help but love you more and more every day. You are really starting to move around so much more this month. You are scooting backwards, going from all fours back to sitting on your own, going from all fours up to a bear crawlposition...as your therapist calls it (bum up high in the air) and squirming all around. You love to stand and can balance holding on to the couch really well. You are right on the verge of crawling and we are watching you all the time, so that we can watch as you begin to move forward. It is really exciting!

You have started to mimic us and love to clap as soon as you see someone else clapping. You are starting to differentiate between Mama and Dada and when we ask, "Where is Mama?" or "Where is Dada?" you can usually look in the right direction. You are also babbling constantly and using a lot more consonants (M,D,G,B,N and a few more). You have started pointing and you are great at picking things up using your pincer grasp. You LOVE drinking water from your straw sippy. You had no problem picking that up because you would have drank your bottle from a straw if you could have. We have begun weaning you from your formula and you have had no problem drinking milk. Right now you get 3oz formula and 3oz of milk. We have also started cutting back on how much you are getting a bottle and usually only get one at night. The rest of the time you are getting your milk/formula from your sippy. You love to eat table food and do so for every meal.

You are still wearing size 4 diapers and have started to transition into wearing 18mo clothing because many of your 12mo clothes are starting to get too small. We even turned your carseat around the day after your birthday. You love wrestling with your brother and laugh at him all the time. This has been a HUGE month for development and change for you and it has been so much fun to watch you grow. You are such a sweet smiley girl. We were so thrilled, a year ago, when we got to hug and kiss you for the first time and we haven't stopped since. You have brought so much added joy to our house and our hearts and we can't imagine a day without you. We love you, Emily Girl!!!
